Without a word, Mr. Walls took a vinyl record from its cardboard sleeve, positioned the center hole over the turntable and gently dropped it. Simon and Garfunkel’s “Sound of Silence” spun slowly on the turntable. He lifted the needle and placed it on the edge of the shiny LP. Music and soft words filled the air in perfect harmony.
